Hands-on Experience

Long before either of us, Shawn and Kelly Moore, CEO and President, came into management roles at R.C. Moore, Inc, we had garnered significant experience in the trucking business. Working after school and summer holidays in the truck and trailer shops of our father’s company, we worked side by side with our grandfather and the 4 mechanics learning what it takes to keep trucks humming in top condition and learning to relate to the drivers and staff. Before long, we were fully capable of performing brake jobs, servicing reefers and doing whatever needed to be done in the shop. Knowing early on that his career would involve trucking, Kelly apprenticed as a heavy mechanic, while I (Shawn) ventured into another side of the transportation business with the merchant marine. “All roads lead home” as they say, and after a short career at sea, I returned to trucking and began learning other sides of the family business. My time spent in payroll, collections, dispatch and sales, as well as my early years in maintenance, all served to prepare me for my current role as CEO at R.C. Moore.

The “give-the-customer-more-than-they-expect” attitude instilled in Kelly and me by our father, Richard C Moore, along with the distinctly creative approach to logistics that VP David Wilson brings to the company, have resulted in customer loyalty and steady growth. We are proud of the professionalism of our drivers and staff. We are proud that our signature black trucks look about as good coming off the lot as they do when they are retired. The Maine Motor Truck Association has chosen us twice as the recipient of their “First Place Safety Award” for carriers over 10 million miles.
